Boeing VC-25A "Air Force One" in SCEL

Friends,

As I must have been in the news, we visited the U.S. president, Barack Obama ... we were not waiting for Obama, but the VC-25A, "Air Force One" aircraft insignia of the U.S. Air Force.

The Air Force One is a Boeing 747-200, completely changed, since their engines avionics through and including the incorporation of in-flight refueling system and security countermeasures.

The military designation for the Boeing 747-200 is the Boeing VC-25A, and uses the designation "Air Force One" only when the president is aboard. Two of them, with tail number 28000 and 29000.

Back in 2004, when Chile was APEC, and in the context of this meeting, we visited the U.S. president at that time George W. Bush, and then arrived in Chile two VC-25A.

For that opportunity, security was high, leaving no parking, I remember I stopped, took pictures and then I went, not to give me time to digest anything, besides, I at that time, I was just starting in the issue of aviation photography, so the photographs are not the best (taken with a Konica Minolta Z2) ... but it is the record of the visit:

The story of 2010, begins a little earlier with the arrival of the advance of Obama, on Thursday, I get a C-5 Galaxy, which unfortunately I missed it.

then the day began arriving Saturday 19 transport planes Boeing C-17 Globemaster III. I spent some time on Saturday morning before going to SCCV and capture two of them.

Five, C-17 Globemaster arrived on Saturday. Recalling

security was 2004, I imagined it would be something similar or even more so for the day Monday 21, plan, like a good pilot, an alternative, Spotting, if the security was very strict place Primary ... and so, from the highway Vespucio Sur, I began to see at least two police for every overpass, in the whole journey.

Upon arrival of Spotteo normal, I realized that it was impossible to park, much less expected, since there was a policeman about every 300 meters, without considering the large amount of radio patrol cars and motorcycles, that ran around the perimeter of airport.

Given this, I decided to go to my alternative, which, as you can see from the photos was well chosen. (The magic of 400 mm)

hear out two F-16 MLU Chilean they headed northeast, near the time to do first contact the Air Force One, these planes were guarding the airspace of the central zone.

The first to appear, was an executive aircraft Gulfstream G-III operated by the USAF:

approximately 12:50 pm he made his first call, being on the intersection UMKAL because came from the east (Brazil). The driver was welcomed to Chile and then instructed him on the approach and runway for landing. Runway 17L was assigned (in any case, again if I had my choice was the 17R).

Then I leave the audio when Air Force One goes to the tower of SCEL:

The unmistakable silhouette of a Boeing 747 came at 13:12 ... the day and time did not accompany him, was very hot and the air was contaminated well, but just a special moment for me, the Air Force One SCEL again and this time could photograph it as it deserves .. flying:

After Air Force One came a Boeing 757-200, also changed, with military designation C32-A, in which he traveled part of the entourage. (The journalists who accompanied Obama did in a Boeing 767-300 of Delta)

landed half an hour after the two F-16 MLU of the facade:

Later, we hope that President Obama left the airport to return to our Spotteo customary place, where we saw the security contingent had already retired, so we proceeded to take some pictures testimonial, because the Heat Distortion had at that time.

On Tuesday, the intention was to see out the Air Force One, again, I had an alternative, since the police operation, I run a hiso little was left on the highway when two F16, just like when I get there, so I di that would come soon.

at 09:19, Air Force One left the Chilean soil:

Next, minutes later, the VC-23A:

Again wait a little for the police operation ended, and we went to the usual place of spotteo, next to the runway 17L. There we could see who had arrived more C-17, then had six C-17:

Four Tango:

and two Kilo:

later became the F-16, which had gone before Air Force One:

The idea was to stay to see the output of the C-17, but another C-17 ... now there are seven C-17!

After a few hours, finally one of the C-17 begins its power, and taxiing to the runway 17L, here we see him in his departure:

a few minutes, great was my surprise when on the radio, we heard that another C-17 came, this time landed on the 17R, which makes a total of eight C-17:

SCEL_Air-Force-one_0045-Blog SCEL_Air-Force-one_0046-Blog SCEL_Air-Force-one_0047-Blog

That if you ever joined the eight, the most there were seven at a time.

The rest of the C-17, or moved, will probably be phased out during the afternoon.

Conclusions:

Obama's visit, and his Air Force One, shows the power and how big is the USAF, moved eight C-17 Globemaster III, for a visit of less than 24 hours. Personally I had not seen many C-17 together even for SCEL FIDAE.

I leave this panorama in which six of them are:

Spotter For us it was a much anticipated visit, the Boeing 747-200, VC-25A, was known to be difficult to capture, but planning was achieved with the task ...

I hope the next coming of an American president to do so on a Boeing 747-8I ... costs nothing to dream. ;)

Hugs,

PS: I remember the cheap popular in San Felipe, 2 and 3 April.
